The Refresh EP has been a very personal project.

Shortly before the pandemic, I experienced a severe
health issue involving my hearing. It got bad enough that I
thought my music career had ended. Fortunately, I saw a specialist and began to heal just in time for the pandemic to end my music career instead.

During much of the pandemic, I lost all motivation to make music. I didn’t so much as open my DAW at that time. But even before that, I hadn’t had the same drive to make music for several years already. While my longtime partner DJ Wood picked up most of the slack, it was a chore to get into the studio and be productive. By last summer, I was pretty much ready to give up on producing music.

By late 2020, some new opportunities presented themselves, and I was able to pivot professionally towards other projects and take a chance to purchase some new gear. I went from being ready to hang it up to producing more music in a couple of months than I had in several years. In a word, I felt utterly refreshed.

This EP results from those months - some of the most creative I’ve felt in years. It was a chance to find my voice again as an artist and a musician.

In a sense, it is a reboot, a rediscovery, and a Refresh.
